Geolutions is proud to contribute to the Jurong Region Line (JRL), a landmark project transforming connectivity in Singapore’s west. For LTA Contract J111, we delivered specialist geotechnical solutions supporting the design and construction of Enterprise Station, Tukang Station, and a 1.5 km viaduct. Our scope included advanced pile load testing, bi‑directional static load tests, lateral load systems, instrumentation with fibre optic sensors, and comprehensive integrity verification through PDA, PIT, Sonic Logging, and Sonic Coring. Despite tight access constraints along Jalan Boon Lay, our team engineered innovative testing setups and monitoring systems, ensuring safe, precise, and resilient foundations for this S$241 million infrastructure development.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Geolutions is proud to play a pivotal role in one of Singapore’s most ambitious infrastructure projects – the Jurong Region Line (JRL). This landmark development will redefine mobility in the west, connecting communities, industries, and innovation hubs like never before. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded the civil contract for two new JRL stations and a 1.5 km viaduct to China Harbour (Singapore) Engineering Company Pte. Ltd., valued at S$241 million. Geolutions is delivering specialist geotechnical solutions that ensure the safe and efficient construction of stations JS9 and JS10, strategically located near Enterprise Road and Jalan Tukang, and the elevated viaduct spanning Jurong Central Park and Jalan Boon Lay.

This project isn’t just about building stations – it’s about unlocking access. Upon completion in 2029, the JRL will bring seamless connectivity to areas previously underserved by rail, including NTU, Jurong Industrial Estate, Jurong Innovation District, Pandan Reservoir, and the future Tengah township. More than 60,000 households will enjoy the convenience of being within a 10-minute walk of a train station, transforming daily commutes and powering economic growth. At Geolutions, we don’t just construct foundations – we lay the groundwork for progress. Our expertise ensures that every structure stands strong, enabling Singapore’s vision for a smarter,

more connected future.

WHAT WE DID

The J111 alignment posed a unique challenge: it cuts through the bustling Boon Lay neighbourhood, a high-foot-traffic zone with limited working space. Pile Load testing required significant ground area, yet Geolutions delivered a solution that combined precision planning with innovative deployment of machinery and equipment.

Our first major milestone was designing and executing a kentledge load test set up beside a live road along Jalan Boon Lay. Working hand-in-hand with our client, China Harbour, we meticulously managed tight access constraints while ensuring public safety and smooth traffic flow. For selected test piles, we also introduced bi-directional static load testing, taking full responsibility for the design, assembly, installation, and operation of the jack system, with continuous supervision to uphold uncompromising test quality standards.

To push the boundaries of geotechnical insight, we instrumented certain test piles with fibre optic sensors, benchmarking their performance against traditional vibrating wire strain gauges. Additionally, we engineered and executed lateral load tests, leveraging our Instrumentation & Monitoring (I&M) expertise. Using inclinometers, we tracked pile tilt under lateral forces, unlocking deeper understanding of pile structural behaviour.

Integrity verification was equally rigorous. Geolutions conducted a comprehensive suite of foundation tests, including Pile Profile Test, PDA (Pile Driving Analyzer), PIT (Pile Integrity Test), Sonic Logging, and Sonic Coring—all performed exclusively by our in-house team using our own equipment. Every step adhered to stringent standards under our SAC-SINGLAS accredited Laboratories and Inspection Bodies Scheme. At Geolutions, we don’t just overcome challenges—we redefine what’s possible in geotechnical engineering.

SCOPE OF WORK
